Nothing replaces experience and knowledge, Marcy gracefully delivers both during ABM sessions. I’ve always heard from ABM practitioners, “look for small subtle changes.” When I took Alfredo home [to Tacoma, WA], it’s often hard to tease out what’s natural development and what is brought out from the ABM lessons. After our recent trip to NYC and ABM lessons with Marcy, I know without a doubt that his brain truly learned something new.
Here’s my story: when I place Alfredo’s AFO on his right leg, I would always ask Alfredo to move his right knee up and towards the ceiling but due to his cerebral palsy, he couldn’t and his right knee (leg) would just drop to the side laterally. After a couple of lessons with Marcy, Alfredo learned that movement. I saw it happen during the lesson. It was awesome. Now, back home, when I place his orthotic on and ask him to move his right knee up towards the ceiling, he thinks about it and does it. Yeah! This is the most concrete example I can provide that demonstrates the powerful gains a child can make in the hands of an experienced ABM practitioner. Thank you, Marcy.
